The reproductive cycle of Finnish Spitzes
Finnish Spitzes typically reach sexual maturity between six months to one year of age. The female dog will come into heat, or estrus, every six to twelve months, depending on the individual dog. The estrus cycle lasts about three weeks and during this time the female will be receptive to mating. If she mates, fertilization occurs and a pregnancy begins. The gestation period for Finnish Spitzes is approximately 63 days.
