It is classified under the genus Ophisaurus and has two subspecies, the Ophisaurus ventralis ventralis and the Ophisaurus ventralis anthracinus. The Eastern Glass Lizard is commonly found in the southeastern United States, but it also inhabits parts of the Midwest and Northeast regions.
