Introduction: Huzule horses
Huzule horses, also known as Hucul or Carpathian horses, are a breed of small, sturdy horses that originated in the Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Europe. They have been used for centuries as working horses, particularly for forestry and agriculture, but have also been bred for riding and sport. Their versatility and endurance make them ideal for a variety of equestrian activities, including show jumping.
History of Huzule horses in show jumping
Although Huzule horses have been used for riding and sport for many years, they have only recently gained recognition in the international show jumping arena. The breed’s jumping ability was first noticed in the 1960s, when a Huzule stallion named Amor won several show jumping competitions in Poland. Since then, Huzule horses have been increasingly used in show jumping, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. In recent years, several Huzule horses have participated in international competitions, including the Olympics.
