How To Draw A Beagle

The Beagle as a child-loving hunting dog

It always fascinates us how diverse the dog world is. Today we chose the beagle to draw. These dogs are known to be lively and exceptionally friendly. They get along with other dogs as well as most people. Children especially like them very much. However, since the Beagle was bred as a hunting dog, it has a strong hunting instinct and would like to follow any exciting smell immediately.

How to draw the dog

Take a look at our drawing guide from start to finish before you begin. Then you start with three circles. Pay close attention to how large each circle is and how close together. This is important to capture the beagle’s build. In the next step, you should also make sure that your feet are neither too close to your body nor too far away. Otherwise, your beagle will quickly end up looking more like a greyhound (very long legs) or a dachshund (very short legs). Go through the instructions step by step and add the new, red elements with a pencil.

Make the beagle recognizable

There are so many different dog breeds and an even greater number of mixed breeds. Don’t worry if your drawing looks a little more like another breed, because who says this dog couldn’t exist somewhere exactly like that? If it is important to you that your dog is recognized as a beagle, pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • the hanging, short ears;
  • not too long legs;
  • a short, dense fur – in contrast to the border collie, you should not draw the beagle fluffy with jagged strokes;
  • a typically patchy coloration of white, tan, and dark brown/black;
  • Snout, legs, and tip of tail mostly white.
