Can dogs drink still mineral water?

Which brand of mineral water you choose is entirely up to you. If possible, pay attention to regionality and prefer glass bottles. They are significantly more sustainable than PET bottles.

Special products for dogs are now available on the market. They are usually significantly more expensive and contain hardly any better water. The same goes for water for babies.

Your dog must get enough water. Especially when the four-legged friend eats dry food, there must be enough water.

Water should always be fresh. That means you should discard stagnant water. After that, you should clean the water bowl well and fill it with fresh water.

Polluted water can be dangerous

Many dogs have a bad habit of drinking water from the most unlikely of places. Some dogs love to drink from watering cans or trivets.

Still, other dogs drink water from puddles, ponds,s, and streams. In principle, this is not harmful to the dog.

However, dogs can become infected with Giardia through polluted water. These are protozoa that cause severe diarrhea. If the dog is healthy, that is also not dangerous. However, if the immune system is weakened, the infection can occur quickly.

Therefore, always remember to take fresh water with you when you go for a walk. Small mineral water bottles are ideal here. Or you use special dog drinking bottles and fill them with tap water.
