The Norwegian Buhund is an all-purpose farm dog and sheepdog. The name derives from the Norwegian word bu for hut, and farm, and is first mentioned in the 17th century. The shoulder height of males is between 43 and 47 cm, their weight is 14 to 18 kg.

The Buhund is considered a family dog, is friendly, fond of children, and playful. He is very attached to people but needs a lot of work and attention.
