The Norwegian Buhund is an all-purpose farm dog and sheepdog. The name derives from the Norwegian word bu for hut, and farm, and is first mentioned in the 17th century. The shoulder height of males is between 43 and 47 cm, their weight is 14 to 18 kg.
The Buhund is considered a family dog, is friendly, fond of children, and playful. He is very attached to people but needs a lot of work and attention.

Care
Keeping the coat in good condition is not difficult. With a special comb with double rows of steel tines, you can very carefully remove the loose hair from the undercoat during the change of coat.
Temperament
Alert, cheerful, active and incorruptible, intelligent, attentive, affectionate, likes to bark. Indoors, however, the Norwegian Buhund is generally quite calm.
Upbringing
The Norwegian Buhund is willing and intelligent, so he picks things up fairly quickly. It should be raised firmly by the hand, with as varied a variety of exercises as possible to keep the Norwegian Buhund ‘happy’. The dogs enjoy being busy, enjoy retrieving, and are enthusiastic about a variety of canine sports.
Compatibility
In general, these dogs are very fond of children, and they get along well with other pets. The Buhund will report foreign visitors immediately, is suitable as a guard, and is even used as a deaf dog.
Movement
The Norwegian Buhund is a bundle of energy with great endurance. Retrieving is one of his favorite pastimes. You should give him the opportunity to run free often – his herding instinct always ensures that the dog does not stray too far from its owner or even run away. He can also walk well off the bike.
