Healthier, stronger, calmer, sleep better, better at collaborating and sharing – yes the list can get crazy long. It’s all about what different studies show what a dog does to humans!

Live longer!

In 2019, four million people from the United States, Canada, Scandinavia, Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand were surveyed. And it turned out that dog owners had a 24 percent lower risk of dying young, for whatever reason.

Live healthier!

Exercising strengthens health. And dog owners are definitely some who move around, often and a lot. Dogs want and need exercise, and perhaps it is a reason to have a dog, that you seek companionship on the walk. The US Department of Health and Human Services believes that owning a dog significantly reduces the risk of diabetes.

מער positive יפעקס

Not just one thing – having a dog has many positive effects. Less risk of heart problems, less loneliness, better blood pressure, increased self-confidence, better mood, better sleep, and more physical activity. All of this, says Harald Herzog, a professor at Western Carolina University, that a dog contributes.

Everything just gets better

The good mood becomes even better. Studies show time and time again that just being close to animals makes you feel better. Good mood increases, and bad decreases! So double effect! So we know that interacting with animals has an immediate effect, both physically and mentally, says Professor Herzog.

Calms down

The dog creates calm. More studies suggest that being close to a dog can help those with ADHD or veterans suffering from PTSD.

In 2015, a study was conducted with children with ADHD where the children were allowed to read to animals. It turned out that the children who read for an animal became better at sharing, collaborating, and helping than the children who read for stuffed animals instead of real ones.

רידוסט דרוק

In 2020, a study was conducted on war veterans who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD. The veterans were prescribed dog walks, and it turned out that this reduced their stress levels. But we already know that just taking a walk reduces stress. So the question was – does it help if a dog is on the walk? And the study actually showed that the veterans’ stress decreased more just when it was out and about with the dogs.

Yes, you probably know yourself a hundred other reasons why it is good with a dog. It is certain that it is an advantage dog. Why do you have a dog yourself?
