#4 Shortened soft palate
A common Pug disease, at least in all Pugs that don't call themselves Retro Pugs, is the shortened soft palate, which causes the Pug to snore, snort, and gasp. In mild cases, a pug can live with it and also grow very old. This is a birth defect. In severe cases, there is gasping, shortness of breath, and even suffocation. Here, too, an appropriate operation can lead to an improvement.

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain in dogs and can occur in younger or middle-aged pugs. The disease is characterized by constant listlessness, lethargy, and loss of muscle coordination. The pug may also spin in circles or press its head against people or other objects.
Encephalitis can occur in 2 variations. One progresses slowly, lasting only a few days, and then returns to normal. The rapidly progressing form leads to more frequent disorientation and seizures and cannot be cured. Appropriate medication can be used to try to reduce inflammation.
