That certainly doesn't mean that you should let everything go. On the contrary, you have to accept it as a challenge to convince this dog to accept the leadership of his master and mistress. He wants that too, but he's not a dog that likes to be submissive just because his people want it that way. He wants to understand the meaning of the exercise. If you respect him out of inner conviction, the Basenji is easy to lead and is very well-suited as a family dog and companion.
