#10 Ungroomed poodles become matted in a very short time and this not only looks ugly, but also very quickly leads to skin diseases, parasite infestation and a penetrating stench.
Many a poodle has ended up as a neglected, pitiful bunch because grooming was too much for its owner.
#11 Quite a few diseases are known in the poodle, but this is partly due to its widespread distribution. With its high average age of 13 years and the many lively and healthy representatives into old age, it is one of the longest-lived breeds of all.
#12 Some poodles develop certain metabolic disorders, such as diabetes or hyperactive adrenal glands. This is often due to poor husbandry and nutrition (overfeeding, sweets).
The smaller strokes are prone to tartar. In white and apricot Toy and Miniature Poodles, obstructed tear ducts can lead to ugly, brown tear ducts under the eyes. Ear infections also occur again and again in poodles and sometimes become chronic.
