Why Does the Dog Shake Even Though It is Not Wet

Getting a real shower from a freshly bathed dog is a special experience that hardly anyone with a dog has escaped.

A wet dog shakes to get dry again as quickly as possible, (or maybe to see the mother’s funny reaction) but sometimes your friend might shake even though the coat is not wet? This may be due to one of the following:

Skin problems that itch or sting

As you know, dogs are not as easy to scratch all over the body as we have, so it can be a sign of itching, especially if the dog often also eels on the floor or rubs against furniture.

Irritated ears

An ear infection, ear scabies, or simply perhaps a blade of grass or something else that has entered the ear, often causes the dog to shake persistently, especially on the head. Pay extra attention if you have a dog with long ears or very dense fur at the ears, they are more likely to suffer from ear infections. Repeated ear infections can also be due to allergies.

It’s cold

Just as you might run a “rider fire” or shake when you feel frozen, a dog may shake itself, or perhaps tremble, to get warm.

The dog wants to shake off something unpleasant

For us, it may be mostly an expression, but a dog can literally shake off both stress and unpleasant events. Often the dog shakes automatically, as a physical reaction. This does not have to mean that the dog has problems. The shaking can simply be a way for the dog to calm down a bit (much like when we take a deep breath) and then jump on as happy as before the scary cat jumped forward behind the fence.
