#7 The Basset Hound bears FCI standard number 163 and is classified in Group 6 – Hounds, Scenthounds and Related Breeds – and Section 1.3 – Small Hounds.
Regardless of sex, the FCI wants a height at the withers of around 33 to 38 centimetres. With an unspecified weight of 20 to 29 kilograms, the Basset Hound is a fairly stocky, massive dog that has a life expectancy of 10 to 14 years.
#8 Its short, smooth fur is two- or even three-colored. It is found white in coloration with black and/or reddish brown and/or sand colored spots.
Typical of this dog - which by no means corresponds to the classic ideal of beauty, but is all the more lovable - are the short legs and the hanging, long ears as well as the drooping lips and eyelids, which give the dog the appearance of a sad look.

A dog with too much energy is more likely to be bored and restless – and to follow you. Leaving toys and treats near the dog bed can give your dog a place to settle down. Teach the “stay” and “place” commands, and give your dog attention for remaining on his dog bed.
