Socializing of Tosa Inu

Since the Tosa gets along very well with children, it is perfect as a family dog. He meets strangers with reserve and indifference, keeping his distance and always paying attention. If this distance is undershot, some Tosa grumble, while others let it endure in silence.

Dealing with other dogs is difficult. They show dominant behavior, especially towards males. The situation is a little more relaxed for neutered males and females.

As with most dogs, how you interact with other pets depends on the situation. If other animal species are already in the household, the probability that the Tosa will accept them is relatively high.

Despite its size, the Tosa needs a lot of exercises and is therefore not really suitable for seniors.
