#10 Collies, who have had a lot of contact with strangers from an early age, are usually happily receptive to unfamiliar visitors.
If Collie senses that his master is rejecting guests, he can become very uncomfortable. Unless strangers are specifically introduced to him as friends, he generally does not allow them to enter the house or property. Collies are not malicious at all, but they do have a natural protective instinct that you can rely on. He does not need training as a protection dog, but it would not harm him either. He doesn't lose his lovable character as a result. For him, biting into the protected arm of the bogus criminal is a wonderful sport, which he pursues with enthusiasm, but which he also rejects when he doesn't feel like it.
#11 When dealing with other animals, Collies show great patience and care in the household.
They quickly make friends with cats, birds, other dogs, and all sorts of small livestock on the farm and lovingly tend chicks, ducks, chickens, and geese.
The collie is literally a good friend for children. He loves her and cares for her tenderly. In the USA, a "dog hero" is honored every year, and the list of collies among these is long. They saved children from burning houses, from drowning, and from speeding cars. Their patience with young children often extends to allowing them to torment them.

If you live close to neighbors and are happy to hear your dog's voice, you have to in order to save yourself the trouble, take early educational action. Training the Collie is easy so that even the beginner can have fun with him. The collie is eager to learn and tries to get praise from its owner. A treat as a reward can work wonders.
