#13 With a tracker dog like the Beagle, a fenced yard is a necessity.
When outdoors, your Beagle should be leashed in open areas, or securely contained and monitored. He's a wanderer by nature, so if he escapes - which is often the case with Beagles - he should be microchipped and have an identification tag on his collar so he can come back to you.
#14 Some people prefer an underground electronic fence, but this type of fencing will not deter other species from entering your yard.
In addition, if your Beagle catches an interesting scent, he will also consider escaping in anticipation of shock.

Positive reinforcement works best as the Beagle will simply shut down if handled roughly. Most Beagles will do almost anything for a treat. Adult Beagles are full of energy and need plenty of opportunities to let it go.
