Origin of the Perdiguero de Burgos

The Perdiguero de Burgos has been bred as a pointing dog breed in Spain for centuries, but its original origin is unknown. It is believed that the Perdiguero de Burgos is a cross between the Sabueso Español and the Pachon Iberico.

In 1911 the breed was included in the Spanish breed register. From 1936, the Perdiguero de Burgos met the same fate as many other dog breeds: the breed was almost wiped out during the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War. It was not until 1950 that the Perdiguero de Burgos was bred again.

Today in Germany, however, the Perdiguero de Burgos is rather rare.
