Nature and Temperament of the Xoloitzcuintle

The “Xoloitzcuintle” abbreviated as Xolo’s are calm and gentle dogs. The Xolo’s are available in three sizes, although these can differ slightly in character depending on the size. (Standard 46-60cm, Medium 36-45cm, and Small/Miniature 25-35cm). Medium and small Xolo’s are usually lively and a bit more playful than the large standard Xolo’s.

The Standard Xolo’s are known for their calm, considered demeanor and reserve around strangers. They are therefore often used as watchdogs because they are very attentive and have exceptionally good hearing.

Xolo’s are very loyal companions and accordingly affectionate. This is especially true when they form a deep connection with their master or mistress. They are very people-oriented and want to please their owner.

This dog breed is extremely intelligent and therefore requires enough cognitive activity. It is advisable to do a lot of different things with them, such as trying out different hiking routes. So that they always discover something new and stay on the ball.

Due to their curiosity, Xolo’s are also well suited as beginner’s dogs, because they like to learn and learn quickly. However, this also means carrying out the training in puppyhood in a disciplined manner.

The standard and medium-sized Mexican Hairless Dogs make good watchdogs and like to sound the alarm when danger is approaching. The small Xolo’s, on the other hand, are well-suited as small, loyal companions.
