Nature and Temperament of the Groenendael

The Groenendael is an active, smart, and extremely affectionate dog. Sufficient exercise and a good balance are particularly important for him. Being lazy all day is not an option for the Groenendael.

He is still true to his origins as a hunting and cattle dog and enjoys many activities that promote body and mind. He is extremely strong and capable of high performance. This makes him the perfect service dog for a wide variety of tasks.

Despite this, he does not have a widespread hunting instinct. So you don’t have to worry about him running away on a walk when he sees a small animal.

In addition, one can say that you have the best of both worlds with the Groenendael. He has high energy levels, enjoys outdoor exercise, and is not easily fatigued. But if he has enough balance, he is relaxed and calm at home.

However, it is extremely important that you also give your four-legged friend the necessary movement. Otherwise, he becomes unhappy and can even become aggressive out of frustration.
