Wirehaired Fox Terriers are very upbeat and won’t just lie in your backyard. They love very much when they are given a task, and they themselves try to please their owners. By their nature, they love to dig, and they can do it, especially when they are bored. They are most suitable for families who want to involve their pet in active games.
#1 The fox terrier was an early entrant to the American Kennel Club. The AKC recognized the breed in 1885, just one year after the club’s founding. The first fox terrier registered with the AKC was named Cricket.
#2 For most of their history, smooth fox terriers and wire-haired fox terriers were considered two varieties of the same breed
But in 1984, 99 years after it first recognized the fox terrier, the American Kennel Club officially distinguished these types as two distinct breeds.
#3 Not very many U.S. dog lovers own fox terriers. According to the AKC’s registration statistics, wire-haired fox terriers rank 96th in the nation, while smooth fox terriers trail at 116th.
That’s down from 77th and 99th in 2003, respectively.
