Torohevitra manan-danja 10 ho an'ny Beagle Newbies

#4 Daily exercise is the be-all and end-all

Beagles were bred to hunt. Their job was to track down and hunt down smaller animals.

Even though Beagles are pets now, they still pack a lot of power. You definitely need enough exercise every day. If not, they turn the power around and start tearing apart your apartment or house. This is also something that new Beagle owners often underestimate.

Veterinarians estimate that 40% of Beagle behavior problems are caused because owners don't give them enough exercise.

So walk twice a day. And train them too with run, jump, and hidden object games.

An optimal day for a Beagle might look like this:

Long morning walk of 30 minutes, including jogging and running for 5 to 10 minutes.

Playtime in the afternoon of 10 minutes in the garden or on the lawn. Like, fetch games on the long dragline or without a leash.

The long walk of 30 minutes before bedtime.

In between the usual command training and games.

Puppies don't need as much exercise. A walk around the block and some playtime is usually enough for them. However, this depends on their age and energy level.

If you can't spend that much time with your Beagle every day, then you should consider the wise decision to get a dog at all. There are definitely more "comfortable" dog breeds than beagles, but they also need exercise and attention.

#5 Start dog box training (carrying box) as soon as possible

For many new owners, putting their Beagle in a crate can feel strange at first, but there's nothing wrong with it. A crate provides a safe environment for dogs to rest. It's like your own cave. It is protected from all sides and is a retreat.

That being said, there are some benefits to getting a dog used to a carrier.

It will make housebreaking training easier.

Whenever you are busy in the house and don't want your dog stroking your feet, you can "put it down" in the box. This is how you make sure that nothing happens to him and you.

It can help counteract separation anxiety.

If you need to be away from home for a short period of time, you can create your Beagle so he doesn't mess around while you're gone. But the time should be limited. Don't go away for hours leaving your Beagle in the carrier!

If you travel by car or even have to fly by plane, this does not cause any additional stress for your dog, because he knows the transport box as a safe retreat.

It is best if you start exercising as soon as possible. Once your Beagle has become accustomed to lying on your couch and sofa, it will be more difficult to get him used to a carrier. Beagles then quickly believe that they are the masters of the house and that you, as master or mistress, do not have to interfere.

Make sure the transport box is large enough. An adult Beagle weighs between 9-12 kilograms. The box should therefore be at least 60 cm long.

#6 Sleep training – this is how your Beagle sleeps through the night

Every puppy owner knows this. The newcomer does not sleep at night and keeps the whole household awake. This is very common in young puppies.

They don't know when to sleep and when to play. It's important to train your Beagle to have a sleep routine that matches your own.

There are a few steps you need to follow to help your Beagle sleep at night:

Keep your beagle busy throughout the day. Puppies need rest breaks, of course, but they also need plenty of activity and exercise. Distribute the phases of movement throughout the day.

Do not let them sleep or nap 3 hours before bedtime. Otherwise, they are in top shape at night.

Take a long walk outside just before bedtime.

Put them in the shipping crate, dim the lights, and try not to make noise during bedtime.

Make sure they've got business before you "put them to bed." Feed your Beagle a few hours before bedtime to give him time to digest.

Follow this schedule closely if you have a puppy. It may take a few days or weeks for your Beagle to get used to the routine. This way you can ensure that your Beagle sleeps through the night later and does not disturb your sleep schedule.
