#7 Shar-Peis were often used for dog fighting in southern China and were often given alcohol and other stimulants to increase their aggressiveness and performance.

#8 When viewed from the top, a Shar Pei’s mouth should either be in the shape of a round roof tile, which is known as “roof tile mouth,” or it should be a wide jaw in the shape of a toad’s mouth.

Which is known as "toad mouth." Both types of mouth give the Shar-Pei a firm bite.

#9 In certain areas, owning a Shar-Pei may be grounds for increasing the rate of a homeowner’s insurance policy or even refusing to insure at all because of the dog’s history as a fighting dog.
