Origine dello Scottish Terrier

The Scottish Terrier, formerly also known as the Aberdeen Terrier, is one of the four Scottish terrier breeds, along with the Skye Terrier, the West Highland White Terrier, and the Cairn Terrier. His ancestors probably come from the Scottish Highlands and the county of Perthshire. The type of dog we know today was only created at the end of the 19th century.

In the 1870s, the breed was first presented at shows and enjoyed great popularity. Originally, Scottish Terriers were bred for hunting. They are therefore not pure show dogs. Furthermore, early representatives of the breed were far more long-legged than their modern relatives.

In the 1920s and 1930s in particular, the black Scottish Terrier developed into a fashion dog that managed to get into the White House several times under American presidents.
