Lavori a cavallo: lavori da sogno con i cavalli

Horses are not only beautiful, noble animals, they also show us, humans, a lot of trust, closeness, and love. Anyone who appreciates this and maybe rides himself has probably already had the idea to orientate himself professionally in the field of horses or equestrian sports. There are many professions that make it possible to deal with horses on a daily basis, but which are the best known, and what are the tasks behind them?

Horse Owner

The profession of horse management might be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of horse professions. If you are interested in this profession, you would have to decide before starting the training in which special direction you would like to work in later. This can be one of the following five disciplines: Classic riding training, horse keeping, and service, horse racing, horse breeding, special riding styles. Depending on the specialization, the training content (in the third year) and the subsequent area of application vary.

Horse hosts are usually required in stud farms, riding schools, boarding houses, and riding clubs. Here they take care of the well-being of the horses, look after and move them and work in the area in which they have acquired their knowledge. Horse hosts for horse breeding work, for example, in stud farms or breeding stations and look after horses that are being prepared for artificial insemination or natural mating. They look after pregnant mares and also accompany the birth of the foals. Horse landlords of the classic equestrian training train horses and riders in the various disciplines and train them in popular and competitive sports. They also introduce horses to performance tests.

Due to the demands on the trainees during the training, very good riding skills, as well as experience in the saddle and at least one riding badge, are expected from the training centers.
Due to the diverse focus, everyone is able to implement their special interests in working with horses professionally.

Istruttore di equitazione

The tasks of the riding instructor sound quite similar, whose profession is probably already known to almost everyone, but not every riding instructor is also a horse manager.

Riding instructors train beginners as well as advanced riders and support you and your horse in training. They also organize school operations in riding schools and impart knowledge about the behavior of horses.

The profession of riding instructor is a training and further education and later riding instructors will teach their students in riding schools and riding clubs at different levels – the prerequisite for this are the so-called trainer certificates, which differ in several qualification levels and can be expanded through additional courses.

Veterinario

The profession of a veterinarian is also anything but unknown. Many children are quite sure from an early age that they want to become a veterinarian one day! The idea is also really nice to be able to help injured or sick animals so that they will soon be healthy again.

Veterinarians are primarily concerned with the health and healing of sick animals, but they can also work in research and animal welfare.

In order to be able to practice the profession of veterinarian, one has to successfully complete the fairly long, comprehensive study of veterinary medicine with the state examination. Finally, you can also decide on a subject and specialize further, for example, if you want to work primarily in equine surgery or in the supervision of equestrian events and in order to acquire very specific knowledge.

Maniscalco

After three years of training, most farriers work independently instead of as an employee. During the day they drive from farm to farm to take care of the hoof care of the four-legged customers on-site. They adjust horseshoes or hoof shoes, bring the hooves back into shape or try to correct a hoof deformity so that these horses can walk correctly again and without incorrect loading. Due to the size of the horses and the work they do, the farrier’s profession is particularly strenuous work.

sellaio

Are you interested in equipping the horses? Then the saddlery profession could be something for you! The saddler adapts a wide variety of saddles (dressage saddle, jumping saddle, all-round saddle, etc.) to the different types of horses so that they do not get pain, pressure points, or tension from wearing the saddle. Saddlers also produce special bridles, saddles, and harnesses – usually made of leather – which are made to measure at the customer’s request. For their work, saddlers need knowledge of anatomy and movements of horses, which they will acquire primarily during the three-year training.

That was just a small glimpse into the many possibilities of how you can turn your passion “horse” into a profession. There are many, many other professions that deal primarily with four-legged friends – because did you know that there are around 4-5 jobs for every horse?
