How To Draw A Dolphin

The intelligent marine mammal

Do you know Flipper, the smart dolphin from the TV series of the same name? The clever animal helps there to rescue people in distress and to solve crimes. Because the dolphin is so smart, playful, and friendly, it’s even used in therapy. What a great animal! That’s why we want to show you today how you can easily draw a dolphin yourself. Are you ready to get started?

How to draw a dolphin

Before you start, you can have a look at how the picture should look like in the end. We drew a dolphin just jumping out of the water into the air. However, the same drawing also works for a dolphin underwater. Then you just have to draw the background a little differently. Is the dolphin your first So Draw project? Then take a look at our instructions first.

Let’s get started! For your dolphin drawing, start with a curved line. It should look a bit like half a circle. After that you add the snout and the dorsal fin. The fin is about halfway down the curved line. Now we are at step three of the drawing guide. Here you draw in the mouth – by the way, a smile suits the dolphin very well. You also close the body in this step. Next, you put the eye a little behind the corner of the mouth. Finally, the dolphin only needs its tail fin and the two pelvic fins. The drawing is ready! And coloring is not difficult either: dolphins are mostly blue-grey. The sleek bodies glisten as they leap out of the water. To do this, you can paint a few bright highlights on the top of the dolphin.

How do you like your own dolphin drawing? Soon we will offer you a few more sea creatures as drawing schools, so stay tuned and stop by again!
