On average, a Chihuahua mom has about 2-4 puppies per litter. However, pregnancies with only one puppy are not uncommon. Litter strengths with more dog children are also recorded, although there are rarely more than 6 small Chihuahuas.
The largest litter to date with 11 puppies was born to a Chihuahua bitch in the US state of Kansas. In Germany, on the other hand, there was a record litter of 9 dog children in 2019. Born in Sterzhausen in Hesse.
