The Podenco’s coat is very easy to care for and only needs an occasional brushing. The health of the Podenco shows few or no diseases typical of the breed.
Being overweight should be avoided at all costs in this sporty dog breed, but this is usually not a problem with the Podencos who do not eat well.
Activities with the Podenco Canario
You can start the following activities with the extremely active Podenco Canario:
- jogging, sprinting;
- long hikes with tricks along the way;
- Run on a fenced dog meadow with conspecifics;
- ball games;
- bike ride.
Due to its coat and its origin, the Podenco is very heat tolerant and gets along well with very high temperatures.
