12 consells de clima calent per mantenir el vostre caniche segur aquest estiu

# 10 Preparació

In the summer, the haircut has two sides. Some say your poodle's hair should be kept short to protect him/her from heat stroke and to make cooling easier.

However, others argue that longer hair protects your poodle's skin in the sun.

Because there are so many things to consider with poodles in the heat, there is no one perfect haircut that will protect every part of your poodle's body in the heat.

It always depends on the individual coat of each dog. Talk to your doctor or groomer about which variant he/she would recommend for your dog.

# 11 Cool areas

If you already own a poodle, you know that they are absolute powerhouses. Poodles need to walk around a lot to burn off their energy. However, most people don't want their poodle romping around the house, so it's time to go outside.

In cooler months, it's okay to let your poodle run around alone and unsupervised (if the grounds are fenced). When it's hot outside, however, it's important that you take personal care of your poodle.

However, it is impossible to watch your dog every second. That's why you should have a kennel or other shade in the garden. This way your poodle can cool off without help if he gets too hot while playing.

# 12 Cooling vest

If your poodle goes outside on an extremely hot day or for an extended period, it's best to put on a cooling vest.

Cooling vests do exactly what the name says, they cool your poodle down. When your dog wears a cooling vest, the body temperature is regulated down and does not rise to dangerous levels. Despite the hot sun, your dog's body temperature can stay within a healthy range.

Go outside with your poodle in the morning and evening

Poodles need exercise. Unlike some other dog breeds, which do just fine without a lot of exercises, poodles need to get rid of their energy and drain it.

The best way to do this is to take your poodle for a long walk. If it is extremely hot outside, however, it becomes a bit dangerous, as I have described in detail.

In the mornings and evenings, the temperatures are more pleasant and therefore better for your poodle, and of course for you too. That is why you should take your poodle for a walk in the mornings and evenings.

During this time the sun is just rising or setting. Then the solar radiation is not so high, so the risk of skin damage is also much lower. In the summer, try to organize your schedule so that you go for walks early or late.
