Bees are insects and have six legs, four wings, and a carapace. The armor consists of chitin. It is, so to speak, the skeleton of the bees. Female bees have a stinger on their abdomen.
In most bee species, each animal lives on its own. They are called solitary bees. They only take care of their own young. The group of cuckoo bees lays their eggs in foreign nests, just like the cuckoo bird, and leaves the rearing of the young to the foreign parents.
Some bee species live together in a colony, which is also called a colony. They are therefore called state-forming species. This includes the honey bee. It is bred in many countries and is therefore widespread. Beekeepers are called “beekeepers” in technical jargon.
