21 Adorable Photos of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels to Brighten Up Your Day

In 1985, President Ronald Reagan gave his wife a Cavie named Rex for Christmas. His first job as the first dog was to turn on the Christmas lights with his paw. Rex lived a decadent lifestyle, complete with a swanky dog house designed by Theo Hayes, great-great-grandson of President Rutherford Hayes.

#1 When Reagan left office, Rex was presented with a new kennel in the shape of the White House and lined with Camp David carpet.

#2 Cavies come in four different colors and each has a unique name.

The nicknames are Prince Charles (tricolor), King Charles (black and tan), Ruby (mahogany), and Blenheim (chestnut and white).

#3 In the early 1800’s the Duke of Marlborough loved King Charles Spaniels and kept a number of them with chestnut and white markings.
