Because of its compact size, this dog breed is also suitable for keeping in a flat. However, Westie is not a couch potato but likes to be outdoors. He needs an active family who shares his passion for long walks and exploring, and who also wants to spend lots of time with him around the apartment or house. The playful curly head gets along well with children, but like any dog, it should not be left unattended, especially with the little ones.
