#10 In 1874 the Kennel Club in England registered its first poodle, and the first British poodle club was formed two years later.

It is not certain when poodles first arrived in the United States, but the American Kennel Club registered its first poodle in 1886. The Poodle Club of America was formed in 1896 but was dissolved shortly thereafter. Poodle lovers revived the club in 1931.

#11 Up until after World War II, poodles were very rare in the United States. By the 1950s, however, the poodle had become the country’s most popular breed, a position it held for more than 20 years.
