#13 Being scent hounds, beagles will run away as soon as they detect an exciting smell in the air. Their noses control their brains and if they smell something interesting, it’s the only thing that exists in their world.
#14 Although loving and gentle, Beagles can have a headstrong, stubborn streak. Obedience training is recommended, but make sure the trainer is knowledgeable about sweat dogs and preferably rewards with food (which few beagles can resist).

Beagles are "food dogs" and will overeat whenever given the opportunity. Monitor the amount of food and keep your kitchen cupboards locked and also secure the waste bins. Otherwise, your Beagle will quickly sniff out his favorite food.
