The Beagle has a deep chest, a straight back, and a moderately long tail that is carried high. The short, smooth, dense coat is mostly black, brown, and white. In Germany, however, bicolored Beagles are also widespread. They lack the black color, while the brown appears more red and can be lemon-colored. Beagles have a soft expression in their deep dark brown eyes. The paws feel firm, and appear round and closed.
