#13 As classic herding and cattle dogs, Collies are active and like to move.
They instinctively tend not only sheep, but also chickens, ducks, and other animals. Daily walks of one to two hours are mandatory in order to meet the animals' urge to move. Ideally, collies find variety in dog sports.

They also feel comfortable in a large apartment. Since collies are very communicative, however, they bark as soon as they perceive movements and noises in the hallway. In order not to burden neighbors with this, education must begin with puppies.
#15 Since collies are very sensitive dogs, they react to moods in their environment. Because of this, they make ideal therapy dogs.
However, the sensitivity can also be accompanied by a certain susceptibility to stress in the event of strong noise pollution or great restlessness. Dog owners counteract this if they get their pets used to conditions such as traffic noise, playing with children, or the hustle and bustle of a big city when they are still puppies.
If you train your collie with force, a loud voice, or even punishment, you will end up with a stubborn and insecure dog. Aggression and coercion are not the right methods of dog training. Collies don't like to be alone. Therefore, a family in which there is always someone by their side is ideal for them. They are also very cuddly and always want to be close to their families. The breed is not suitable for keeping in a kennel.
