Dalmatian – little is known about its origins. Spotted dogs of this type were already known to the Egyptians. In the Middle Ages, too, white dogs were depicted with dark spots. It was later referred to as a Hound, but where it came from, how and what it hunted is unknown. Even in the former Yugoslavia, dogs are only known to have been imported from England in the 1930s.
