#1 It has been officially known as the “German Pinscher” since the 19th century. This (hunting) dog, which was originally used for pest control, has hardly changed in appearance since then.

However, very little is known about its exact origin.

#3 Sharing the same ancestry as the Schnauzer (rough-haired Pinscher), it was used as a guard dog in stables or on farms.
