12 Common Behavioral Problems in Golden Retrievers

#10 Digging and digging

Digging is innate in all dogs, no matter their breed, size, or shape. This can be a problem, especially when they start digging up items like window frames, doors, or the fridge in the kitchen. This can lead to enormous damage.

The reason is often a lack of exercise and too little work. The stimulation of body and mind must be balanced in these working dogs, otherwise, they will exhibit misbehavior.

#11 Aggression

Although aggressiveness is not a typical Golden Retriever behavior, it can still occur in Goldies. There are several factors or reasons why this may be the case for the few who have aggressive tendencies.

These include a history of physical punishment, a bad breeder, or a lack of socialization with other dogs or people. This is where you as the owner have a lot of influence: Buy your Golden Retriever from a reputable breeder. Never physically punish your dog for bad behavior. Introduce your retriever to other family members, other animals, and everyday things (e.g., bikes, car noise, skateboards, etc.)

#12 Conclusion

The Golden Retriever is a great dog breed for everyone including individuals, couples, and especially families. Like all social creatures, retrievers develop their behaviors naturally.

If this breed of dog, known for being peaceful and social, exhibits any behavioral issues, you need to pinpoint the factors and reasons for the misbehavior. Reasons for misbehavior can be lack of physical exercise, lack of mental stimulation, socialization, bad breeders and lack of upbringing, and insufficient obedience training.

If you know the factors and turn them off or invest a lot of training, you will get a great companion. The whole process will not be easy, but with patience and determination, you can achieve a happy life for everyone, owners and dogs.
