12 Common Behavioral Problems in Golden Retrievers

#7 Too much energy

When you walk past a Golden Retriever, you can often feel its energy. He sniffs, pants, sniffs, and wags his tail. And everything needs to be explored immediately. This all sounds nice at first, but if this curiously energetic state is permanent, it can become exhausting.

With energy in abundance, retrievers will do whatever they can to get rid of that energy. Often these are things or activities that are undesirable for us humans. This includes running around the living room, chewing things, and stealing things. If you let your Goldie get away with it, life with him won't be so cute anymore. Make it very clear what things - and only his toys - he is allowed to buy.

#8 Separation anxiety

The fact that they are sociable, affectionate, and family-oriented dogs also make Golden Retrievers prone to separation anxiety. This often occurs when you leave home because you have to work or go shopping. In fact, Golden Retrievers suffer from separation anxiety more often than other dog breeds.

The severity of their separation anxiety can range from mild to very severe, which is reflected in different symptoms. Retrievers with mild separation anxiety will pace, whine, drool, and frantically pace.

When fear becomes severe, it can cause them to engage in destructive behavior, such as B. digging or biting at windows or doors. Sofas and cushions are also often the target of these attacks. Not only do they destroy your home, but they can also seriously injure themselves.

#9 Puppies bite through

As with all dog breeds, it's only natural for puppies to bite anything they can get their hands on. Yes, even Golden Retriever puppies are big in it. It is crucial at this stage to train your puppy and teach him that he needs to control his biting behavior. You must not let this get away with a puppy or a pubescent canine teenager.
