The American Akita is the western evolution of the original Japanese dog breed. As a former hunting dog for bear hunting, the giant with a stubborn head brings a lot of strength and endurance with him. It can be a real challenge even for experienced dog owners.

#1 As the name of the dog breed already implies, the American Akita descends from the Japanese Akita Inu.

#2 Originally called “Akita Matagi”, these dogs were used in the 17th century for hunting bears and later abused in dog fights for the bloody entertainment of the public.
