Grooming the Afghan Hound is very time-consuming. Exhibitors, in particular, want to take care of the magnificent hair coat and therefore prefer plucking instead of brushing.
#1 However, for an Afghan hound kept as a normal family dog, daily grooming with a brush is sufficient.
#2 You can prevent matted hair by regularly using conditioner, special hair oils or detangling sprays.
But beware! Felt villi can also form between the sensitive paws, so regular checks are necessary. It is best to entrust the extensive care of the Afghan Hound with regular appointments at the dog groomer to a professional or to seek advice from them.
