Elastic curls need to be cleaned of dry grass, small twigs, burs, and combed regularly. During the period of flowering grasses and snowy weather, the dog can be dressed in lightweight overalls. Portuguese Water Dogs are resistant to low temperatures, but their coats become very tangled and “collect” snow. It is recommended to use waterproof coveralls in rainy weather.
