#8 The Border Terrier has the body shape and proportions of a classic small, long legged working terrier.
Their deep, narrow, and long bodies and long, slender legs express endurance and agility and allow for a swift and agile gait. Its head is similar in shape to that of an otter, its nose is usually black but can also be liver or flesh colored. Lively, intelligent eyes must be dark, ears small, V-shaped and set close to the head. The tail is moderately short and tapers towards the end - it is allowed to curl up happily but not carried over the back.

In addition to regular brushing, a hair trimming once or twice a year (preferably in the spring during the molt) is necessary to keep its coat nice; otherwise, the dog sheds little. Approved coat colors for Border Terriers are red, wheaten and mottled, and blue, each with a tan.
